Elvis Presley - Elvis Presley (1956)
This was Elvis’ first album. I will go through the album in track order and I will rate each song on a scale from 1 to 10. I will also rate the album on a scale from 1 to 10 at the end.
(Side 1) Track 1: Blue Suede Shoes - This song was originally performed by Carl Perkins, so this is a cover. I think this is a nice cover of the song with the faster beat. This was recorded during the time between the end of the Rockabilly period and the beginning of the Rock ‘n’ Roll period, so I think Elvis made the song more popular for this time. This is also a popular Elvis song, so 9/10.
Track 2: I’m Counting on You - I don’t know if I like this song very much, due to the vocals, I don’t know what Elvis was trying to achieve while recording, but I guess that makes it kind of good. So I guess I’ll give it a 6/10.
Track 3: I Got a Woman - This is a cover of a song that Ray Charles originally recorded. I like this version of the song and I like the Ray Charles version, too. I think Elvis turned this song into a great Rock ‘n’ Roll Song. 8/10.
Track 4: One-Sided Love Affair - I’m not sure if I’m a fan of the bouncing effect Elvis was doing with voice in this song. He tends to do this in the early 50’s songs a lot, but this song is not one that he did the effect and it sounded good. The piano in this song is pretty great though, so I will give it 6/10.
Track 5: I Love You Because - I don’t have much to say about this song. I think this is a good love song. I think this is kind of one of those love songs that the main character would sing to the love interest in a typical 50’s movie, so it is a 7/10.
Track 6: Just Because - I like this song, because this is one of the songs where the bouncing effect Elvis is doing with his voice actually works. I also like how Elvis basically mocks the Girl he is singing to and I find that quite funny. I also like the Guitar solo that Scotty Moore does during the song too. 8.5/10.
(Side 2) Track 7: Tutti Frutti - This is a song that Little Richard originally sang, but I don’t really like the Little Richard version, I don’t really like this version either, I guess I just don’t like the song in general. I guess I just don’t like the theme of this song. I don’t think singing about the many women you are dating is something you should do ever, so no matter who sings this, I will give it a 6.5/10.
Track 8: Tryin’ To Get To You - This is a great song. The concept is kind of weird and Elvis’ Squealing is weird, but in all of that, Elvis shows how much and how well he can sing. I also like the instrumental background of Scotty Moore (Guitar) and Bill Black (Bass). 9/10.
Track 9: I’m Gonna Sit Right Down (and Cry Over You) - This is one of my favorite Elvis songs, just because of how funny it is. There are a couple of songs Elvis sang which involved him basically protesting! I would put this in that category. 10/10.
Track 10: I’ll Never Let You Go (Little Darlin’) - I don’t really like this song. It’s because Elvis is just apologizing for making a girl cry. I also don’t like the fact that it has a very echoey effect that makes Elvis sound like he is in a cave. It’s not even a stereo record. If you didn’t know, stereo records sound very echoey. Little known fact, but what Elvis did to achieve that cave effect was he recorded his vocals in the most echoey stairway he could find. I also didn’t like how he sped the song up at the end, he did it in some other songs, but I thought this was one song that it didn’t work with. Anyway, 4.5/10, because I just didn’t like it, basically!
Track 11: Blue Moon - This is a cover of a song that The Marcels originally recorded. Elvis slowed down the tempo and replaced most of the lyrics with falsetto woahs, if that makes sense. This also has the same effect that Track 10 had and it also sounds very echoey. I don’t like this version, so 5/10.
Track 12: Money Honey - This is a nice Elvis song. I kind of don’t like the bouncing effect Elvis did with his voice, but it kind of worked. I also like the Guitar solo from Scotty Moore. 7/10.
This is a very classic album. I will rate this album 9/10, because it did live up to it’s legendary standards (mostly). This was the first album Elvis put out with RCA, but Elvis never put out an album with SUN Studios, he only did singles (45’s if you want to be fancy) with SUN Studios, because I think SUN was just plain poor, so this was basically a compilation of some of the best songs from his recordings at SUN Studios and some new recordings from early RCA, so I think RCA made a very good first album with Elvis.

Elvis - Elvis Presley (1956)
This album was Elvis Presley's second album. I will rate it the same way as Elvis' first album. Let's get Started!
(Side 1) Track 1: Rip It Up - This is a cover of a Little Richard song. I like the changes Elvis made to it. 8.5/10.
Track 2: Love Me - This is a more well known Elvis song. That’s it. 9/10.
Track 3: When My Blue Moon Turns to Gold Again - I don’t have much to say about this song. I'm not sure why I like it so much, but it is very nice. I'm going to say 8/10.
Track 4: Long Tall Sally - This is a cover of a Little Richard song. Elvis is screaming, for some reason. I mean, Little Richard is in his version, but in some of the songs Elvis is distorting his voice and screaming, it sounds weird. This is one of the songs. I have to give it 8/10.
Track 5: First in Line - This is a nice love song. The only problem that I have with it is that every ETA (Elvis Tribute Artist) Yes they have those, sing it all of the time! Goodness Gracious! Pardon my language, but come on! 8/10, because ETAs ruined it for me.
Track 6: Paralyzed - This is an upbeat song. I like it. It's like When My Blue Moon Turns to Gold Again. Not sure why I like it so well, but I do. I will say 9/10.
(Side 2) Track 7: So Glad Your MIne - I hate the lyrics. Don’t listen too carefully. I was going to say 7/10, because I like the Beat, but the beat doesn’t make up for it. 4/10, because the lyrics are disturbing.
Track 8: Old Shep - Two words: Too Sad. I don't recommend listening to it if you love animals, because you'll cry. Alright it's kind of happy and very sad at the same time, It's a story about a dog and a boy that grew up together and at the end. The dog dies. I'm going to stop there before I cry. 5/10.
Track 9: Ready Teddy - Slightly more popular than these other songs. This is pretty good. 8/10.
Track 10: Anyplace is Paradise - Weird song, just saying. Lyrics are weird. Elvis mumbling for no reason is weird. Everything is weird. Even Scotty Moore’s solo was kind of weird. 6/10.
Track 11: How’s the World Treating You - This sounds the exact same as Old Shep and I don’t like that. 4.5/10.
Track 12: How Do You Think I Feel - Another weird song. Why end an album with this? Ok, I guess. 5/10.
Alright, this is the moment you’ve all waited for, or scrolled down to the bottom to see. I rate this album 9/10. A lot of songs had disturbing lyrics, almost all had the Stereo effect and I promise, it is not a stereo record. Elvis just used his, what I like to call “Singing on top of an echoey staircase” Technique. The bad part was the last 3 songs were pretty weird. Even though there was some weird songs, some of the songs on here were amazing. Bye!

Loving You - Elvis Presley (1957)
This is Elvis' first Soundtrack Album to one of his movies. This is also his 3rd album. My copy is a stereo, so it already gets some points knocked off ... not really. Without further ado, let's get started.
(Side 1) Track 1: Mean Woman Blues - *sigh* What a way to start an album… I mean it’s catchy, but MAN the lyrics are dumb. The title explains it all! It's pretty funny though if you say it's a love song 7/10.
Track 2: (Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear - A very classic song. Nuff Said. 9/10.
Track 3: Loving You - The title track of this album. I mean it’s good, but it’s one of those songs that you’ll listen to, but there is better, but it’s not horrible. Definitely not horrible. 6.5/10.
Track 4: Got a’ Lot o’ Livin’ To Do - Elvis mumbles a little too much for my liking, but that just happens in his early work. He either mumbles or sounds like he's bouncing.. The problem with this song is that this has both... However, It's pretty good. 8.5/10
Track 5: Lonesome Cowboy - This is an unusual Elvis song, but unusual in a good way. I like it a lot. NEVERMIND HE SAID SOMETHING DISGUSTING AT THE END 8/10
Track 6: Hot Dog - This song is kind of weird, but it kind of nice. The instrumental is nice, but lyrics are weird. However, this is typical for Elvis' 1950s songs. so 7/10
Track 7: Party - This is nice. Well, just don’t pay attention to the lyrics. For some reason, that's a common occurrence in Elvis' 1950's stuff. 8/10
(Side 2) Track 8: Blueberry Hill - This is a cover of a Fats Domino song. So, this should be good. 6/10
Track 9: True Love - This has a weird vibe. The lyrics are a little weird. I've watched the movie, Loving You, but I don't remember this being in the movie... so it's place in the movie won't help it either... 4/10
Track 10: Don’t Leave Me Now - This is an oddly nice song. I really like it. The live performance though is disgusting. (Note to you, the reader: ETAs {Elvis Tribute Artists} ruin a lot of songs, because of live performances...) 9/10
Track 11: Have I Told You Lately That I Love You - This has a interesting beat. For some reason, it sounds like Save The Last Dance for Me By: The Drifters, but also, not really. However, It's pretty Good though 8/10
Track 12: I Need You So: This songs like an Elvis Movie Ending, so it's a pretty good ending to this album. However, just by listening to it by itself and without context, not sure if it's good. 7/10
This is a good album, despite my complaining. This was a soundtrack album, so these songs were in the Loving You movie, so it's was bound to have a bunch of unusual and weird songs. This is an 9.5/10 album.
