My Experience As a female wrestler

Jaidyn Pohlsander
Once you've wrestled, everything else in life is easy.-Dan Gable
Why did I start wrestling?
The most common question I get asked as a female wrestler, is it awkward wrestling boys?  The answer is it isn't, because as soon as the whistle blows, we are only two people trying to survive.
What does what mean?
  • Weight and Classification-the numbers are a wrestlers weight in pounds, the letter following is their classification.
    • A-Club Wrestler
    • B-Multiple Years of Wrestling
    • C-First Time Wrestler
  • Pin-The preferred way of winning to most wrestlers, keeping an opponent on their back with both shoulder blades touching the mat, until the ref calls the pin. This is an automatic win, and you don't have to wrestle more rounds with that opponent.
  • Rounds-A round in wrestling is typically 1:00-1:30.  Unless there is a pin, the wrestlers will wrestle three matches winning points, however if all three matches end, and both wrestlers have an equal amount of points, a sudden death match will be held, and the first wrestler to win a point wins the match.
  • Here is typically the preferred way for a matches to go, ranked.
  1. You win by pin
  2. You win by points
  3. You win by sudden death
  4. You lose by points
  5. You lose by sudden death
  6. You lose by pin
First match of 2020 (Central): Dante Hudson (108c), Westport. I shot a double leg, took him down, and held him down in T position, lifting up his head until a pin was called, the match was 48 seconds.  He didn't shake my hand at the end.
Second  match of 2020: 1 win by pin, 1 loss by points, 1 loss by tech fall (one wrestler up by 15 points)
Third match of 2020 (Cassville): 1 loss by a pin called by ref, but my shoulder was not on the ground, and 1 win by pin, against my first girl of the season.
Fourth match of 2020 (Carver): Another loss by a pin that wasn't the correct call, as a shoulder was up and I was out of bounds, I won by points for the first time this year, it was close to a pin, but the score was 13 to 3.
I haven't updated like I should but here is the basic run down of what is happening:
I got double eliminated at the tournament.
I got 4th place at all city.  Everyone for PV placed 4th or above so got a medal.
I have started wrestling for the Bulldog Wrestling Club, but have not had a tournament yet.
